What you see on every new tab

Leman's Garland is drawn the way a silk designer's album page looks: bold flowers in flat colour on squared paper, as if it were still on the drawing table. It is an original design in the manner of James Leman's Spitalfields silk designs. Nothing is traced; the layout is generated and every motif is drawn from scratch.

• The paper: a cream ground with a faint pencil grid and saffron stepped-fret blocks, some of them stippled.
• The flowers: blue daisies, pink roses, red tulips, pink pompoms, striped ball-flowers, orange scale-buds and red spike flowers, with smaller versions on the twigs.
• The fillers: fountains of grass, sprigs with tiny blue flowers or red berries, and berry clusters, on stems with cream-ribbed leaves.

Nothing is a video. The design is drawn live in your browser and the motion is continuous, with no loop point.

What it reacts to

• Mouse: leaves and flowers near your cursor turn away from it, then ease back.
• Music: with music sync on, bass widens and quickens the sway, mids wobble the leaves, treble shivers the grass, and each kick pulses the blooms.
• Night: after dusk the page dims to a warm candle-lit look, with a soft glow at the centre that flickers a little.
