Leaf Munchers New Tab theme: a rainbow, a mint-green and a violet striped caterpillar on a big green leaf, with scalloped bites eaten out of its edge

Leaf Munchers
three caterpillars eating one big leaf

One big leaf in golden afternoon light and three caterpillars at work on it: a mint-green swallowtail, a striped violet one and a rainbow one. They crawl to the edge and chew, bite by bite, until only the rib is left and a new leaf unfurls.

Free to install. Leaf Munchers unlocks with Pro, $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year. Cancel anytime.

What you see on every new tab

Leaf Munchers fills the New Tab page with a single Alocasia leaf in warm light with soft leaves and drifting dust behind it. Three caterpillars live on it and slowly eat it, and what they have eaten stays eaten when you open the next tab.

Nothing is a video. The leaf is one photograph; the caterpillars, the bites and the swaying are worked out live in your browser, differently every time.

Questions

Does the leaf start fresh on every new tab?

No. The bites are saved in your browser, so the next tab opens on the same half-eaten leaf and the caterpillars carry on.

Is Leaf Munchers free?

It is a Pro theme. Pro is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year. It unlocks every Pro theme, music sync, and every new theme as it is released. Cancel anytime.

What happens when the leaf is gone?

The last scraps fall, the bare rib stands for a few seconds, and a new leaf unfurls from the stem.

Does it work on my phone?

No. It's a desktop browser extension for Chrome and Edge on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. If you're reading this on a phone, send yourself the link.
