Pro theme · Ambient New Tab for Chrome & Edge
A wide gold-and-orange accretion disc streaked with orbiting material, a white-hot inner ring hugging the event horizon, and a blue-white jet twisting up from the pole. In the style of the classic NASA artist's concept, fully procedural.
Free to install. Black Hole unlocks with Pro, $19 once, no subscription.
Black Hole puts a supermassive black hole on the New Tab page, seen from just above the plane of its accretion disc, in the look of the NASA/JPL-Caltech artist's concept. Nothing is a picture: each pixel is ray-cast against the horizon, the disc and the jet every frame.
Nothing is a video. The scene is generated live on your graphics card with WebGL, so it never loops and never looks the same twice.
Ambient New Tab is free to install, with three free themes. Black Hole is a Pro theme. Pro is a one-time $19 purchase, no subscription, and it unlocks every Pro theme, music sync, and every theme we release in the future. You can preview Black Hole full screen before you buy: open the Themes panel and rest your mouse on it. Changed your mind? 14-day refund, no questions.
Deliberately not. This theme matches the painting, so there is no gravitational lensing or Doppler beaming. Event Horizon is the physically lensed one.
It is a Pro theme. Pro is a one-time $19 purchase, no subscription, that unlocks every Pro theme, music sync, and every future theme.
Moderate: one full-screen ray-cast pass. It caps its resolution, renders only while a New Tab page is visible and drops to 30 fps on battery.
